As I mentioned in last newsletter, the National Weather Service would like to have permission to contact certain volunteers if an observer indicates information that would be useful to better understand a particular storm event. This has already happened several times but without prior consent, getting that permission for us to release your contact info meant lost time.

I have set up a new feature to allow you to give permission now in case they do wish to talk to you in the future. Consequently, the next time you log on to your NeRAIN account, you will receive a special page asking for your permission. I hope you do give it because assisting NWS is part of the reason why we are involved in this project but it is entirely up to you. You will have to say either “Yes” or “No” and then will be able to continue with your observation entry. If all goes well, this should be just a one-time event.
